Sample USCIS Defensive I-589 Receipt Notice

This document is a receipt notice for a biometrics, or fingerprinting, request sent to USCIS for a defensive asylum application (Form I-589) filed with the immigration court. When you file an asylum application in immigration court, it is considered a defensive asylum application. If you filed an asylum application in immigration court and followed the steps to request a biometrics appointment from USCIS, you may get this defensive asylum receipt notice. USCIS sends this notice after receiving the necessary documents to request a biometrics appointment.

Please note that unlike USCIS, immigration courts do not issue receipt notices for asylum applications. Instead, when you apply, you can request a stamped copy of your asylum application as proof that you submitted your asylum application.
