Sample Work Permit Receipt Notice
This document is a receipt notice from USCIS that lets you know that USCIS received your application for your work permit. If you apply for a work permit with USCIS, you may receive a receipt notice. The address listed below your name is the address where they will send your work permit, so make sure to update your address if it changes. You can use the receipt number to check the status of your application here. You can read more general information about work permits here.
If you applied to renew your work permit, your work permit may be valid for 540 days after the expiration date. This is an increase from the 180-day auto-extension that was previously in place.
If you applied to renew your work permit after May 4, 2022, you should receive a receipt notice that says 540 days instead of 180 days.
If you applied to renew your work permit before May 4, 2022, your receipt notice will say 180 days and you will not receive a new receipt notice. But your work permit will still be automatically extended for 540 days, if your work permit is based on asylum and you applied to renew it before the expiration date on your work permit card.
